Our pet dogs hold a special place in many of our hearts. Little furry creatures that depend on us for everything, but give so much back with their love and companionship. The newest wellness trend for the hip pups is CBD. In this post, we’ll discuss what CBD is, what it may treat, and whether it’s the right choice for your little buddy.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is a substance made from the hemp plant which may be therapeutic for canines (and their owners!). Unlike marijuana, CBD isn’t psychoactive, meaning that giving it to your dog won’t make them “high”.
How Can CBD Help My Dog?
While there hasn’t been extensive scientific research regarding the effects of CBD on pooches, there is ample anecdotal evidence that CBD can help with an array of common doggy ailments.
CBD may be especially beneficial to elderly dogs. As they age, dogs increasingly encounter mobility issues, anxiety, pain and inflammation, and more chronic conditions like arthritis. Many dog owners report that CBD relieves a host ofissues associated with our aging friends.
Is It Safe?
Some pet owners may be wary of giving CBD to their precious hounds, but at the right dosage and with a quality product, the risks are relatively low. Start with very small amounts and be on the lookout for bad reactions. Also, you should always consult your veterinarian before administering CBD (or any other medication or supplement) to your pets.
Does your furry friend suffer from any of the afflictions outlined above? If so, why not give CBD a try?
