Hemp extract FAQ
What is hemp extract oil?Hemp extract oil is derived from the stem, stalk, leaves, and flowers leaves of the hemp plant. The most common hemp extract is CBD, which contains Cannabidiol and a variety of other minor cannabinoids. As the hemp industry continues to study the therapeutic benefits of cannabinoids, hemp extracts featuring large amounts of other cannabinoids like CBG will become more common.
What is CBD?CBD (Cannabidiol), also referred to as hemp extract, is a naturally occurring compound find in the Cannabis plant. Unlike THC, which is famous for the “high” it causes, CBD has no psychoactive properties. CBD, as well as other cannabinoids, continue to be studied for their therapeutic benefits that support the body and mind in many ways
What’s the difference between hemp and marijuana?Hemp and marijuana both come from the same plant genus—Cannabis. However, they are not the same. Hemp naturally has higher concentrations of CBD, and by definition, must contain only trace amounts of THC (under .3% by dry weight), otherwise, it is considered marijuana.
The 2018 Farm Bill made hemp legal in all 50 states.
How does CBD work in the body?We each have an endocannabinoid system, which operates as our body’s control center to regulate our internal state. CBD works primarily with its CB1 and CB2 receptors. When the endocannabinoid system, falls out of balance, we can’t function at our best.
Who can benefit from taking hemp extract?Almost anyone can benefit from finding balanced wellness and reduced stress. CBD and other cannabinoids interact with your body’s endocannabinoid system, which regulates many important processes throughout the body. A balanced endocannabinoid system promotes a healthy, homeostatic state.
How much CBD should I take? With CBD, it’s best to start low and go slow. We recommend starting with one serving, once daily. Allow it to build up in your system for a few weeks, then adjust up or down according to your needs. The FDA has not released official guidelines on dosing for CBD, so we are unable to give more specific recommendations.
Will CBD cause me to fail a drug test?Properly sourced hemp should legally contain less than 0.3% THC. Current Naturals CBD complies with all regulations regarding minimal THC content, so it will be undetectable in a drug test.
What does broad spectrum mean?Broad spectrum hemp extract offers the full range of beneficial compounds found in the hemp plant, including CBD, terpenes, and minor cannabinoids. However, in broad spectrum oils, the THC has been removed to non-detectable levels. This makes it a great choice for anyone subject to drug screening or if you’re sensitive to THC.
Where does your hemp oil come from?In addition to our own farming operation, we partner with select U.S. farms to monitor the entire operation from seed to shelf. We only use organic farming practices and our extraction method uses supercritical CO2, so you will never have to worry about pesticides or other contaminants in our products.
Can my pet take CBD?Yes, your pets have an endocannabinoid system just like you. Your dog or cat can experience many of the same benefits from CBD that you do. We recommend providing them with a pet-specific chew or tincture and to avoid giving them any products with artificial colors or flavors.
