You see it all over the place: hemp extract. It seems like every kiosk, store, and family friend is touting its benefits.  But to an outsider new to the industry, it’s easy to get lost in the terminology. So, let’s start out with a fundamental question: What does hemp extract oil stand for?

What does hemp extract oil stand for?

Hemp Extract oil stands for “cannabidiol.” Cannabidiol is a type of cannabinoid; these are chemical compounds found in either mammals or, as in our case, the Cannabis plant. Cannabidiol is one of the at least 113 different cannabinoids found in hemp. The other most widely known cannabinoid is THC. The reason cannabidiol (hemp extract) is so popular is it is thought to have therapeutic effects, without any psychoactive side effects.

How does hemp extract oil work?

To understand how hemp extract oil works, you must first learn about the endocannabinoid system. This is a complex collection of cell-signals that isn’t entirely understood yet. However, what we do know are the basics of how it works to keep each of our bodies functioning. Essentially, an endocannabinoid molecule will target a receptor. Receptors will have one of two jobs; they’ll either specialize in physical health or mental well-being. Once a receptor is reached, a response/effect will be emitted. After the response/effect has been carried out, an enzyme will break down the endocannabinoid molecule that’s no longer necessary.

So, how does hemp extract oil tie into all of this? Well, hemp extract oil works to mimic an endocannabinoid molecule. It’ll reach the endocannabinoid system’s receptors to put out the same responses/effects of physical health and mental well-being. This leads to balanced systems within the mind and body.

What types of products contain hemp extract oil?

Since we live in the 21st century, there are almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to hemp extract oil. Of course, there are the basic lotions, salves, and tinctures. Tinctures can come in a bunch of different flavors, such as vanilla, orange, peppermint, and coconut. hemp extract softgels are another type of product that’s out there. These are flavorless capsules perfect for people always on-the-go. There are also some super innovative items out on the market. For instance, did you know that there’s a such thing as hemp extract pet chews? hemp extract gummies also exist. It’s amazing how many hemp extract products you can find out there.

Where can I get hemp extract oil?

Well, while you can get hemp extract oil virtually anywhere, you should only buy it from certain places. Why? Unfortunately, not all companies create high-quality hemp extract products. Since the industry is widely unregulated, companies can get away with releasing inferior or ineffective products. This is a common practice in both physical and virtual shops. To protect yourself, there are a few things to look for. Make sure the company you purchase from provides third-party lab results in their website that show exactly what their products contain—a good lab report will show the levels of THC, hemp extract, and if there are any heavy metals or pesticides. Secondly, look for a company that provides hemp grown in the USA. Imported hemp isn’t held to the same quality standards. Third, ensure that your company of choice is in control of their product from farm to shelf. To save yourself the effort, you may want to consider getting your hemp extract products from a chiropractor or your healthcare professional of choice. Their businesses depend solely on their customer bases, so they really do their research before providing hemp extract for their customers.

Hemp Extract oil is a difficult thing to understand at first. Since you probably don’t want to use a product that you’re unsure about, it’s recommended that you learn the basics about the industry before you make a purchase. Having a well-rounded knowledge about hemp extract oil can certainly boost your confidence about finding your ideal product. Now that you’ve learned some about it, why not take a leap and try out your first hemp extract oil?
