“Phytocannabinoid” is sort of an intimidating word, isn’t it? It seems like something you’d stare down on a science exam—a remnant of school days past. Don’t let its scientific exterior fool you. Phytocannabinoids have amazing psychotropic and therapeutic properties and are completely natural. So, what is phytocannabinoid rich hemp? Let’s start with the basics.

What are phytocannabinoids?

Phytocannabinoids are the cannabinoids that naturally occur in cannabis or hemp. There are more than 80 different phytocannabinoids found in cannabis—but the two you are probably most familiar with are CBD and THC.

How do phytocannabinoids interact with the body?

When phytocannabinoids enter the body, their molecules bind with the receptors in our endocannabinoid system. This system has two main receptors, CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are common in our nervous system, so they can work to moderate things like mood, motor functions, pain perception, and memory. CB2 is found in our immune system and helps with our response to illnesses and inflammation.

So, introducing phytocannabinoids to this system encourages a balanced endocannabinoid system. Many people use CBD oils or hemp extract oils to target specific pains, moods, or inflammatory responses within their endocannabinoid system. Unfortunately, every body is different. So, while some may have excellent results, others may not. We can’t predict how each person’s body will respond, so it’s best to experiment to find the perfect dose and product for your particular issue.

Just know that the surge of popularity for CBD isn’t completely unfounded—many people experience excellent results with CBD when added to their daily wellness routine.

What is phytocannabinoid rich hemp oil?

Phytocannabinoid rich hemp oil is another name for CBD oil or hemp extract oil. By law, it must contain .03% or less THC, though many (if they are listed as broad spectrum) have removed as much THC as possible. True phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil will contain all the other vital cannabinoids and terpenes found in the hemp plant.

Some hemp extract oils or CBD oils are made from CBD isolate, which is CBD alone. While some people have great results from these, most find that CBD is far more potent with the other phytocannabinoids. This is because of something called the “entourage effect.”

Think of the “entourage effect” like teamwork. The cannabinoid compounds from the cannabis plan have a synergistic effect and maximize the benefits of the hemp extract oil.

How do I take phytocannabinoid rich hemp oil?

If you have purchased a bottle of hemp extract oil or CBD oil, you may be unsure of how to use it. There are two main ways that people take CBD oil, either sublingually or by ingesting it.

Sublingually

To take your oil sublingually, place one full dropper worth of hemp extract oil under your tongue. Hold it there for 60-90 seconds before swallowing. What this does is absorb the CBD through your mouth tissue and directly into the bloodstream. This is the most effective and easiest way to take it.

Ingestion

You can also take hemp extract oil by swallowing an oil tincture, gel capsule, or even by consuming an edible. When you eat hemp extract oil, it takes a lot longer to feel the effects because it has to go through the digestive system. Another downside is that it would be as potent, as many of the cannabinoids are broken down during the digestive process.

Phytocannabinoid rich hemp oil can be an excellent tool for managing your overall wellness.
